UGHELLI/Nigeria: Women of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta Central Senatorial District have unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, as the party’s sole candidates for the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement came during a high-level APC women’s unity meeting held on Sunday at the Kingdom Hall in Ughelli. The motion, moved by Mrs. Josephine Oduaran and seconded by Hon. Stella Okotete, was adopted through a unanimous voice vote chaired by former House of Representatives member, Hon. Evelyn Oboro.
Convener of the meeting and Executive Director of Business Development at NEXIM Bank, Hon. Okotete, declared that the women of Delta Central were fully behind Tinubu and Oborevwori, with no intention of turning back.
“This is not just a meeting; it’s a movement. We are fully committed to the re-election of President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori to continue their transformational leadership beyond 2027,” she said.
Okotete described the gathering as a strategic consolidation of women’s political strength in the APC and urged grassroots mobilization from house to house, ward to ward, and local government to local government. She emphasized that her personal ambition is not for elective office, but to secure victory for the party.
She also encouraged the adoption of the party’s twinning system, allowing men and women to alternate or deputize roles, to promote greater gender inclusion in governance.
Echoing her sentiment, Hon. Evelyn Oboro praised Governor Oborevwori for his achievements in office, noting that his performance has united the APC and attracted former PDP members into the party fold.
Chairman of the Delta State Civil Service Commission, Chief Roseline Amioku, urged women to take the voter registration drive seriously, especially by ensuring their children of voting age are registered. She emphasized the electoral power of women and called for continued unity.
APC State Women Leader, Mrs. Tina Okwudili, also expressed confidence in the party’s prospects, citing defections and growing support as signs of strength ahead of 2027.
Present at the meeting were key female figures in Delta APC including the State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu; pioneer State Women Leader, Mrs. Janet Oyubu; Evangelist Ann Agoda; Mrs. Regina Edeki; and Mrs. Loveth Onojoserio, who described the gathering as a rallying point to solidify women’s political engagement in the state.
The meeting marked a significant show of unity and resolve among APC women, as the party intensifies its groundwork for victory in the next electoral cycle.
