WARRI/Nigeria: Delta State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Patrick Ukah, has described the primary school Cognitive Placement Examination as critical foundation for evaluating and testing the academic ability of pupils.
Mr Ukah, who stated this during the monitoring of the Cognitive Placement Examination in some parts of the sate on Saturday, September 26, 2020, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the pupils.
He said that the purpose of conducting the examination was for the children to meet the fundamental requirements for entering into secondary school.
While commending the enthusiasm the pupils had shown in preparation for the examination, Mr Ukah expressed optimism that the they would perform well.
The commissioner advised the pupils to imbibe the reading culture especially now that they were graduating into secondary school and wished them success in their examination.
Schools monitored were Ekpan Secondary School, Ekpan where Our Lady Vanguard Primary School and Okugbe Primary School, wrote the examination, Ethiope Primary School, Amukpe, Ogodo Primary School, Urhiapele Primary School, Oruese International School all in Sapele.
Others were Valley Stream British School, a centre where the pupils of Our Saviour Group of Schools, Majesty Primary School, ERIS Education Centre, St. Daniel Primary School and Mona School all also in Sapele, Sapele Local Government Area, wrote the examination.
