Delta Commissioner Pledges Govt’s Support for STEP, YAGEP Enterprnuers

ASABA/Nigeria:The Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, today assured entrepreneurs of STEP (Steprenuers) and YAGEP (Yageprenuers) of the state government and constant support.

Mr Aniagwu, who stated this during a courtesy visit by the Steprenuers and Yageprenuers on him, stated that the intention of the state government was to address the issue of unemployment and wealth creation in the state.

According to the commissioner, entrepreneur should be able to put their skills into practice adding that a single successful entrepreneur could be an employment of labour which he noted could reduce the problem of unemployment in the state.

The commissioner said that the government intended capturing the entrepreneur doing well in their various skills through the Smart Agenda program, saying that this would expose their skills to the public.

While urging the entrepreneurs widen their membership to all senatorial districts in the state, he called on them to embark on peer review mechanism with their contemporaries, stating that it would help others identify with their success stories.

He praised the group for its positive mentality in kicking against what he referred to as ‘rent and entitlement’ mentality and thanked them for their various programmes initiated to give back to society.

Earlier, the President of the STEP/YEGAP Entrepreneurs Group, Mr Authentic Ojuwa, stated that the programmes which was meant to empower the youths between 18-35 year through different vocational skills had spread prosperity  to all Deltans in the last four years.

Mr Ojuwa said that their mission was to contribute to the development of Delta sSate with their skills as entrepreneur, adding that an award would be given to the State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa for job creation initiative.
