IBUSA/Nigeria: Delta State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Chief Julius Egbedi, has stressed the relevance of training and retraining of the workforce of any organisation.
Egbedi made this known during the flag off of a four-day performance improvement workshop with the theme, “Developing effective marketing strategies in a public enterprise”, for officers on salary grade level 07 and above in the Delta State Agricultural Procurement Agency (DAPA), Ltd, at Ibusa.
He said it could not be over emphasised as it would keep the workforce abreast with modern and better ways of discharging their duties towards high productivity.
He noted that with the training, staff of DAPA Ltd would be better placed to reach out to more farmers in the state on improved seedlings, fertilizers and other agro inputs, thereby enhancing food security in the state.
Speaking earlier, the General Manager of the agency, Mr. Reuben Ishaka, in his opening remarks, said the training was aimed at performance improvement of the officers to enable them compete favourably in the business world.
He said since the agency was faced with the challenges of providing quality goods and services at affordable prices to farmers in the state, there was the need to equip and train staff on marketing strategies.
He urged participants to take advantage of the exercise which, he said, would provide a better platform for the agency to move greater heights.
The participants were taken through courses relevant tin the discharge of their duties.
