Delta Commissioner Warns Motorist Against Parking Around Roundabout

EFFURUN/Nigeria: Delta State Commissioner for Transport, Sir Vincent Uduaghan has cautioned Motorists against parking vehicles around the circumference of the Effurun roundabout.

Sir Uduaghan gave the warning when he inspected the Effurun roundabout in company of his counterpart from the Ministry of Works, Chief James Augoye in an on-the-spot assessment of causes of traffic gridlock being experienced by motorists and other road users recently.

The Transport Commissioner stated that the reoccurring gridlock experienced by motorists and other road users was due to “I don’t care attitude on the part of vehicle owners who park their vehicles and sometimes drop passengers, as well as people carrying out business activities within the circumference of the roundabout, without considering their actions.”

He said that the reoccurring traffic gridlock at Effurun roundabout, PTI Junction and other busy areas are sources of concern to the government and road users, even as he frowned at residents who take delight in dumping waste in the drains within the Effurun roundabout.

The Commissioner said that, such could cause blockade of the drains and hamper free flow of water which erode the aesthetic beauty of the area.”

Speaking, the Commissioner for Works, Chief James Augoye during the inspection stated that all failed portion of roads within the Effurun roundabout and other areas would be rehabilitated without delay.

Chief Augoye further stated that as a measure to address some of the perceived traffic hiccups, a U-turn would be constructed close to the Ubrumede roundabout to facilitate the movement of commuters going to Orerokpe, Eku and Agbor.

The Commissioners urged road users to be of help by parking at designated parks in order to solve the puzzle of the reoccurring gridlock at the Effurun roundabout.
