Obiaruku: The crises between the communities in Ukwuani Local Government of Delta State, has taking a new dimension, as persons not connected to the warring communities are now falling victims of the crises.
The latest victim is a student of a Private University, and the only school of higher learning in the area known as Ndokwa, Novena University with a functional Campus in Amai.
According to reports, the missing students who is from Eku, in Ethiope East Local government Area of the state, was abducted on his way to school along the Amai/Obiaruku road.
The crises which involves Amai, the communities of Eziokpor, Obiaruku and Umuebu has taking many lives who are declared missing for daring to move between Amai and any of the other communities.
Five days after the abduction of one Mr Okpochini, who was taking after court session in Obiaruku, some persons who travelled to Ukwuani LGA for a traditional marriage event were kidnapped on their way between Amai and Eziokpor.
The Sunday incident raised tension in the LGA as the Chairman of the Ukwuani Council Area hurriedly left the venue of the 2017, Democracy celebration, on Monday 29 in Asaba.
The missing persons on that Sunday incident were from Aragba community, in Ughelli Local Government Area, according to information gathered by Ndokwa Reporters.
On Tuesday, 30 May, 2017, the Governor of the state, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa told newsmen during the press briefing in government house, that a meeting had been with the communities for the next day Wednesday, May 31, to find a lasting solution to the problem.
Various peace meetings, including the very first one held in the office of the Area Commander in Asaba, which the warring parties signed an accord to keep the peace, had been broken.
The outcome of the meeting with the governor is not known, but the latest development had indicated that the communities are not ready to end the war soon, unless a drastic action is taking by the government.
The leader of the Anti Cult Group in the state, Mr Austin Emu has appealed to the various communities to stop the war, and release the Novena Student within 24 hours.
He called the action of the abductors as anti people, as he said, “It is obvious that these warring communities in Ukwuani LGA of Ndokwa Nation have refused to tow the lane of peace”.
A phone chart with the Divisional Police Officer Obiaruku had appealed to the communities to give peace a chance, as killing will not make them much better.
