WARRI/Nigeria: The newly inaugurated members of the Local Government Health Authority have been called upon to bring out their best for the task ahead.
The Chairman of Warri South Local Government, Dr Michael Tidi, made the call recently at the inauguration of the newly elected local government health authority, in Warri South Local Government Area.
The Chairman explained that the newly appointed members had the responsibility to fulfill the obligations of development and management of infrastructures at the local government level.
He listed target areas to include primary health care, implementation of all components of primary health care, formation of village and ward development committees, assisting with the database collection, collation and dissemination, ensuring effective Drug revolving fund scheme amongst others.
Dr Tidi enjoined the members to bring in their technical expertise and be committed to their duties, warning that the council would not hesitate to sanction any erring member of the committee.
The Director General of the Delta State Contributory Health Scheme, Dr Ben Nkechika, said that the bedrock of health scheme was the primary health care, stressing that the committee was set up to make the primary health facilities functional and be able to achieve effective health care services
Dr. Paul Yinkore from the Delta State Primary Health Care Development Agency Asaba, who represented the Executive Director, Dr Jude Winful-Orieke, called for synergy among primary healthcare workers to ensure good health for all Deltans.
The newly inaugurated Chairman, Hon. Ete Keke, promised that they would work assiduously to achieve the aim of the committee to face the task ahead of them.
Other members sworn-in included Hon. Elvis Eboh, Supervisory Councillor for Health, Dr Maureen Sagay, HOD Health, Deaconess Doris Pemu, Hon. Esther Omosuye, Deaconess Avon Ifeoma Lori and Hon Tega Okokoyo.
Highlight of the event was the swearing-in of the newly inaugurated members of the committee by the by the Council Chairman, Dr Tidi.
