Delta Council Staff Undergo HIV Screening

WARRI/Nigeria: Management and staff of Warri North local government council are presently undergoing the Human Immune Virus (HIV) screening currently going on in the state.

The exercise which is being carried out to know the number of persons living with the virus in the state, is already been carried out in others parts of the local government area, and just recently, kicked off at the council secretariat.

Speaking to our correspondent on the progress of the exercise, the health officer, Mr. Felix Atigan, in charge of the exercise said the turnout was impressive, as most of the staff were eager to know their status, owing to the proximity of the venue for the testing.

He described the whole process as easy, quick, and on the spot HIV testing, adding that the result comes out few minutes after testing.

A staff of the council, Mrs Lucky Esedo, who was seen calling out her colleagues to come for the testing, said she is very excited to know her status without going to the hospital or medical laboratory to get tested.

She commended the Warri North primary health care authority for the deployment of an officer to the council secretariat, as it has greatly encouraged staff to come out for the HIV testing.
