ASABA/Nigeria: The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has ordered a full-scale investigation into a viral video that surfaced on social media allegedly depicting unprofessional conduct by officers attached to Ebrumede Division under the Warri Area Command.
The video, which has been widely shared across various platforms, features a young man who identified himself as “DJ Young,” accusing the police of abuse and misconduct during an encounter. The CP, in a swift reaction, condemned the alleged act, stressing that the Command under his watch will not condone any form of incivility or abuse of power by its operatives.
CP Abaniwonda emphasized that the allegations are being treated with the utmost seriousness. “We do not and will not tolerate unprofessional conduct in any form,” he said. “The Command is committed to transparency and accountability, and I have directed an immediate and thorough investigation into the incident. We urge the victim or any other person with useful information to reach out through our Complaint Response Unit lines.”
The Commissioner also reiterated that the integrity of the Delta State Police Command remains a top priority. He charged officers and men of the force to maintain professionalism at all times and operate strictly within the rule of law and the ethics of modern policing. “This Command stands firmly for justice, and we shall not shield any officer found wanting,” he assured.
The Command called on members of the public, particularly the individual featured in the video, to assist in the investigation process by providing credible evidence or testimony that would aid in the administration of justice. CP Abaniwonda’s directive is seen as a step toward restoring public trust and ensuring that officers remain accountable to the people they serve.
