Jude Ogbimi Honoured for Public Service as Delta Trust Mortgage Bank Surges 300%

Hon Jude Ogbimi receives award of Distinguish Fellow of the Chartered Institute of information & Strategic Management and also ambassador Award for African Union 2063.

LAGOS/Nigeria: Chairman of Delta Trust Mortgage Bank and former Delta lawmaker, Hon. Jude Omena Ogbimi, has been conferred with a Distinguished Fellowship Award by the Chartered Institute of Information and Strategic Management, alongside a continental recognition linked to the African Union’s Agenda 2063. The twin honours were presented over the weekend in Lagos in acknowledgement of his trailblazing leadership in public service, finance, and sustainable development.

The recognition, according to the organisers, was grounded in Ogbimi’s clear alignment with the M.O.R.E Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, which champions meaningful development, opportunity for all, realistic reforms, and enhanced peace and security in Delta State. Hon. Ogbimi was celebrated not only for his legacy as a forward-thinking legislator in the Delta State House of Assembly, but also for his rapid transformation of the state-owned Delta Trust Mortgage Bank from near-collapse into a revitalised financial institution with national relevance.

Speaking shortly after receiving the honours, Hon. Ogbimi expressed deep appreciation to the institute and the African Union’s partners, describing the awards as a recognition of collective efforts. “This recognition is not just for me alone; it is for all of us who believe in building Delta State through purpose-driven leadership and economic empowerment,” he said. “As someone privileged to serve in both the legislature and now in the financial sector, I understand the importance of policy and capital in driving meaningful progress.”

But beyond words, Hon. Ogbimi’s impact at Delta Trust Mortgage Bank has been nothing short of transformative. A financial institution once considered moribund and buried under a N638 million deficit in shareholders’ funds, the bank has been revived within a span of just seven months. When Ogbimi assumed the position of Chairman, the bank lacked visibility and public confidence. Today, it is back on a solid growth trajectory.

“Many who visited the bank lately are shocked at the transformation,” a staff member told journalists. “From the modernised banking hall to the new operational culture, the difference is day and night.”

The bank’s headquarters in Asaba now stands out as one of the finest financial buildings in the capital city, drawing attention for both its aesthetics and professionalism. Under Ogbimi’s watch, the bank has posted a revenue surge of over 300% following an aggressive marketing campaign and a targeted expansion strategy.

New contact centers have been established and are already operational in Ughelli and Ozoro, with branches in Agbor and Sapele expected to go live by the end of July. These strategic expansions have not only increased access to mortgage services but have also created new employment opportunities across the state.

In a recent milestone, Delta Trust Mortgage Bank was selected by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as one of only two mortgage banks in the entire country authorised to process RSA entitlements for EFCC staff nationwide, a vote of confidence that places the bank on a new pedestal of national relevance.

Reflecting on his time as a legislator, Ogbimi spoke of his commitment to inclusive policy reforms, youth empowerment, and infrastructure development. Now in the financial sector, he says the mission remains the same, driving opportunities and financial inclusion for all Deltans. “This award strengthens my resolve to deepen access to home ownership for low and middle-income families, and to sustain the growth of the bank in line with Governor Oborevwori’s vision,” he stated.

With this dual honour, Hon. Jude Ogbimi’s journey from the legislative chamber to corporate boardroom continues to inspire a new generation of leaders. His dynamic leadership and results-driven approach offer a clear example of how effective governance and strategic management can deliver impact at both local and continental levels.
