Delta Deputy Governor Urges Electoral Bodies to Bring Polling Units Closer to Citizens

ASABA/Nigeria: Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, has called on electoral bodies to prioritize bringing polling units closer to the people. Onyeme emphasized the necessity of reducing the distance between voters and polling stations to ensure greater accessibility during elections.

The Deputy Governor made this statement when the Okotomi Phase 111 Landlords Association, Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State paid him a courtesy call.

Addressing the concerns raised by the landlords about the lack of polling units in their area, Onyeme expressed his concern about the challenges faced by voters who have to travel long distances to cast their votes at distant polling stations. He stressed that this situation discourages voter participation and called on electoral bodies to take swift action in resolving the issue.

Furthermore, the Deputy Governor assured the residents of Okotomi Phase 111 that the current administration, led by Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, is committed to continuing the developmental efforts of its predecessors. Onyeme promised to complete ongoing projects and initiate new ones to improve the lives of the people in the region.
