Delta Environmental Commissioner Task Deltans On Vegetation Control

ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Commissioner for Environment, Mr Chris Onogba has appealed to Deltans and residents to partner with the state government to have a cleaner, healthy and safe environment.

Mr Onogba made the appeal when he inspected vegetation control exercise by the Ministry of Environment in Asaba at Ibusa Expressway from Koka Junction to Federal College fence, Asagba Primary School along Ezenei Road and Government House to Anwai Road through Infant Jesus fence in Oshimili South and North Local Government Areas.

According to the environment commissioner, everybody was a stakeholder in the issue of the environment, and had no class or bias.

He called on Deltans to partner with the government for cleaner environment, advising that people should cultivate the habit of vegetation control by cutting over gown weeds to avoid reptiles and other dangerous animals in their premises.

Onogba, however, warned that Deltans and residents should stop using the drains as dumpsite, adding: “Let us stop using every available space as dumpsites. There are designated areas for dumping of refuse.

“Let us stop the habit of dumping our refuse indiscriminately but patronize private sector participants (PSPs) to dispose their waste to government approved dumpsite.
