ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Government has praised the Delta State chapter of the Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN) for its generous donation of 600 crates of fresh eggs to 51 orphanages across the state.
The government described this act as a significant endorsement of the MORE Agenda of the current administration.
The commendation was delivered by the Delta State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza, in a keynote address during the official presentation of the eggs on Tuesday.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Theresa Oliko, Dr. Osuoza highlighted that the gesture by PAN exemplifies the collaborative spirit between the government and its citizens, which is essential for mutual progress.
“The initiative by PAN is a welcome development and a clear indication that governance is most effective when both the government and citizens work hand in hand,” said Osuoza.
He further encouraged other associations to follow PAN’s example by contributing to the MORE Agenda, which aims to uplift vulnerable individuals, families, and communities throughout the state.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of the Delta State chapter of PAN, Chief Eric Tomfawei, explained that the donation was motivated by the 448 tonnes and 60 tonnes of palliative maize the association received from the state government earlier in the year.
He emphasized that with continued support for poultry farmers, it would be possible to provide eggs free of charge to the poor and vulnerable, especially children.
“Due to logistic challenges, we have only invited representatives from fifteen orphanage homes to this flag-off event,” Tomfawei noted.
“However, those not present will receive their allocation through the respective Local Government Area (LGA) PAN Executives.”
Chief Tomfawei also appealed to the state government for an increase in the quantity of maize allocated to PAN during the second phase of the palliative distribution exercise.
The event culminated in the symbolic presentation of the eggs to representatives from various orphanage homes, marking a significant moment in the state’s ongoing efforts to support its most vulnerable citizens.
