ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Government has reiterated its unwavering stance against examination malpractice, vowing to prosecute anyone involved in attempts to undermine the integrity of the nursing certification process.

This assurance was contained in a statement issued by the State Commissioner for Health following the arrest of a suspect allegedly involved in a plot to compromise the upcoming Preliminary Training School (PTS) Examination. The examination, organized by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria in collaboration with the Delta State Ministry of Health, is a critical assessment for student nurses seeking professional certification.

According to the statement, the suspect—whose name is being withheld to avoid jeopardizing ongoing investigations—was arrested by operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Delta State Police Command after credible intelligence exposed an attempt to use financial inducement to influence the examination process.

The Commissioner noted that the individual was allegedly caught offering bribes aimed at securing undue advantages for certain candidates. “The examination is conducted under strict guidelines to maintain the standards and credibility of the nursing profession,” the statement emphasized. “Authorities responded swiftly to ensure the sanctity of the process is preserved and that justice is served.”

The suspect is currently in police custody and will face prosecution upon the completion of investigations. The Health Commissioner warned that the state government will not hesitate to enforce strict penalties against any form of academic fraud or unethical behavior, especially in the healthcare sector.

Candidates, parents, and all stakeholders have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities. The Commissioner stressed that integrity, professionalism, and transparency are essential values in the training of healthcare professionals.

“Preserving these standards is crucial for the future of our healthcare system,” the statement concluded.
