Delta Governor Announces Over N1 Billion Release for College of Health Sciences Project

EMEVOR/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, revealed on Tuesday that his administration has released over N1 billion to the contractor handling the College of Health Sciences project at the Delta State University of Science and Technology (DSUST), Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area.

Governor Oborevwori made this disclosure during the inauguration of the 4.04km Emevor-Orogun Phase 1 road, which includes 5.555km of side drains, at Emevor Community in the Local Government Area. He expressed gratitude to his predecessor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, under whose administration the contract for the first phase of the project was awarded. The governor appreciated the support from the people of Emevor and the Isoko nation, assuring them that his administration would not disappoint.

“We have released over N1 billion to the contractor handling the College of Health Sciences project at the Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro. It is a big project and I can assure you that it will be completed by October this year,” Oborevwori stated. He also praised the contractor, Emorock Construction Concepts, for their commendable work on the project.

Governor Oborevwori emphasized his commitment to continuing projects initiated by the previous administration, citing his inspections on March 8th and April 8th to ensure the timely completion of the road before the rainy season. “It, therefore, gives me great pleasure to have completed this road, knowing how strategic and important it is to the people of Emevor and the surrounding communities. This is a testament that our MORE Agenda is on course. It is another promise made, and promise kept,” he said.

The governor highlighted the positive impact of the completed road on local accessibility, economy, and living standards. “With the completion of the first phase being 4.04 kilometers, accessing our farms, markets, and neighboring villages will no more be a nightmare. I believe that the local economy and living standards of our people within this axis will henceforth improve.”

Governor Oborevwori also announced the approval for the second phase of the project and reassured the community of his commitment to its completion. “I have heard your request for the construction of the second phase. Be rest assured, with God helping us, we will construct the full length of the road which terminates at Orogun,” he added.

The member representing Isoko Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Jonathan Ukodhiko, and the member representing Isoko North constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Bernard Odior, expressed their appreciation for the governor’s efforts in the Isoko nation, particularly regarding the establishment of the College of Health Technology at Ovrode. They noted that the Emevor-Orogun road had been a significant challenge for the Isoko people and pledged their continued loyalty and commitment to the governor’s administration.

Commissioner for Works (Rural and Riverine Roads), Mr. Charles Aniagwu, commended the contractor for the timely and quality delivery of the project and expressed hope for the completion of the entire stretch of the road to Orogun.

Earlier, Comrade Teddy Edoso, President-General of the Emevor Progress Union, and Dr. Paul Oweh, Chairman of the Delta State Hospitals Management Board, thanked Governor Oborevwori for completing the first phase of the road and appealed for the award of the contract for Phase 2. They praised the governor for appointing indigenes of the community and for prioritizing the road project, pledging the total commitment of the Emevor people to his political aspirations.
