AGBOR/Nigeria: The Delta State Government has shut down Bolero Hotel and Nightclub in Agbor following allegations that the facility was being used as a hub for underage prostitution and the consumption and distribution of illicit drugs, in what authorities describe as part of a broader crackdown on trafficking and related crimes.
The enforcement action followed an order of the Delta State High Court sitting in the Agbor Judicial Division of Ika South Local Government Area, issued on February 10, 2026, directing that the premises be sealed pending further proceedings.
Court documents show that one Orewa Ekene, trading under the name Bolero Concepts, was arraigned before the court on a six-count charge bordering on human trafficking, contrary to Section 17(c) of the Delta State Human Trafficking (Prohibition) Law, 2024, in a case titled Charge No. AG/1C/2026: Delta State v. Orewa Ekene.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges and was subsequently remanded at the Agbor Custodial Centre, while the court adjourned proceedings until March 3, 2026, for hearing.
During the session, the state’s Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice applied for an order to freeze and seal the hotel and nightclub, arguing that the premises were allegedly being used to facilitate criminal activities involving minors and narcotics.
In a ruling delivered on February 11, 2026, the court granted the request and ordered the temporary closure of the establishment pending determination of a motion on notice also scheduled for March 3.
Officials noted that the action reflects the state government’s resolve to clamp down on human trafficking networks, child exploitation, and drug-related crimes. Authorities pointed to a similar enforcement move in December 2025 when the government sealed the Happy Home Children Orphanage in Okwe over alleged child trafficking activities conducted under the guise of running an orphanage.
The latest development, according to government sources, signals a sustained and coordinated campaign by the state to dismantle criminal operations exploiting vulnerable persons and to strengthen enforcement of laws protecting minors and public safety.
