ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Government has called on 369 shortlisted candidates of Delta origin, who are yet to report for the ongoing Nigerian Army 89th Regular Recruits Intake screening, to immediately do so before the exercise ends on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.
The screening, which began on Sunday, June 8, is being held daily from 7 a.m. at the Cenotaph Complex in Asaba, with 694 Delta candidates initially shortlisted. So far, only 325 have reported, leaving 369 still absent.
Director General of the Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, made the appeal in a statement issued on Tuesday, noting that the state government, under Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, had made comprehensive provisions to support the candidates during the exercise.
According to him, five government-provided buses were deployed across the three senatorial districts to ferry candidates to Asaba free of charge. However, only 85 made use of the buses, while 240 others found their own way to the screening centre.
Dr. Oghenesivbe emphasized that the Governor’s commitment to youth development and national service motivated the government to ensure adequate transportation and welfare support for all shortlisted candidates.
He urged those yet to participate to take advantage of the final window before the deadline, saying the grace period will not be extended. The State Awareness Committee on Youth Enlistment into Military and Paramilitary Services also reiterated its appeal for full participation.
