ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State monthly environmental sanitation exercise for the month of March, will hold in in the state on Saturday, March 26, 2022 between the hours of 7.00 am and 10.00 am.
A statement signed by the Director of Information, Mrs Theresa Oliko, said there will be restrictions of vehicular movements and persons, while those involved in inter-state journey or engaged in essential duties are free to go about their normal duties.
The statement advised residents to clean up their premises, cut overgrown weeds, fumigate the environment, de-silt drainages, and generally keep the environment clean to prevent diseases, and avoid burning of wastes or bushes to prevent environmental hazard.
According to the statement, the state Commissioner for Environment, Mr Chris Onogba, staff of the Ministry of Environment, Taskforce on Environment and other relevant authorities will monitor the cleanup exercise, while officials of the state Waste Management Board and local government councils are to evacuate the resultant refuse to approved government dump sites.
It warned that those found not taking part in the sanitation exercise will be arrested, brought before a mobile sanitation court headed by a magistrate and fined appropriately.
