Delta Holds Pre-Startup Workshop for 2019/2020 Cycle Green Yagepreneurs In Poultry

ASABA/Nigeria: Beneficiaries of the Delta State Government’s Youth Agricultural Entrepreneurs Programme (YAGEP) in Poultry Production have been admonished to be diligent in their businesses.
The 2019/2020 cycle beneficiaries, 14 in number, were among the green YAGEP beneficiaries who recently graduated from a three-month training course in various farms across the state.
The Coordinator of YAGEP in the Office of the Chief Job Creation Officer, Mr. Samuel Ndikanwu, gave the admonition during the Pre-Startup Workshop organized for them by the job creation office to prepare them and to present them with the first tranche of poultry farm inputs they need to begin their Poultry businesses.
Mr. Ndikanwu said the beneficiaries were established after undergoing all the screening processes in the Office of the Chief Job Creation Officer.
While commending the state government for initiating and sustaining the life changing programme which has made previously unemployed Delta youths to become gainfully employed, he advised them to make good use of the opportunity to become great poultry farmers.
Earlier, Miss Emmanuella Clinton, a resource person, lectured the beneficiaries on how to prepare their farms to receive day old chicks (DOC) and on brooding, vaccination and on pre/post arrival of DOC.
She added that the right application of vaccine while brooding would help eliminate mortality, stressing that their approach to vaccination of the birds may either affect their birds negatively or positively.
Speaking on behalf of other beneficiaries, Mr. Ebenezer Uzoma, commended the state government for establishing them in poultry production, appealing that the state government should sustain the programme in order to engage more unemployed indigent youths.
“I am so happy that I am part of the selected few to be established with the starter packs, knowing fully well that I shall no longer go back to doing menial jobs to survive. I am grateful to God because my story has never been a palatable one due to unemployment”, he remarked.
The first tranche of items given to each beneficiary included 4 stoves, a roll of nylon, 10 baby feeders, 10 baby drinkers, 20 adult drinkers and 20 adult feeders.
