ASABA/Nigeria: The Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government Council, Comrade Uche Osadebe has inaugurated an 11-man committee on street naming in the local government area.
The committee has as its chairman Elder Franklin Oba, who is also the Secretary to the Local Government Council while Mr Ben Akaeze will serve as the secretary.
The Comrade Uche Osadebe urged the committee to work together as a team to ensure that the purpose of inaugurating the committee was achieved by making sure people coming for street naming pay into the revenue account before naming a street after them.
He frowned as the practice where people who paid for street naming were not allocated accordingly and called on the committee to guard against such act.
The chairman of the committee, Elder Franklin Oba, appreciated the council chairman for the appointment and promised that the committee would work as a team to ensure the committee was successful in its objectives.
In another development, the Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government Council, Comrade Uche Osadebe has provided empowerment package to traders in ward 9 in Asaba.
The chairman stated that the action was intended at empowering petty traders and it would go round the 14 wards in local government, adding that the exercise was to help boost their trades.
In their speech, the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to God and the government of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, stressing that Comrade Uche Osadebe administration was divinely designed. They promised to use the funds to boost their various trades.
The Chairman was accompanied by ward 9 Councillor Mr Austin Mgbeze, supervisory councilors, secretary to local government and party faithful.
