OBIARUKU/Nigeria: The Councillorship candidate for Ward 9B in Ukwuani Local Government under the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Mr Elike C. Joel has reiterated his commitment to give Ward 9B an unparalleled grassroot representation when elected councillor in the January 2018 Delta State LG election.
In an exclusive interview with Ndokwa Reporters, Mr. Joel noted that his decision to contest for councillor was an answer to the yearning of his people for liberation from political slavery, imposition of candidates in Ward 9B and for adequate representation.
“You know, at first I didn’t want to contest for any elective position but when I saw the slight on my people by some acclaimed leaders in the ward, by imposing candidates on us against our collective will; I then decided that enough is enough. I said to myself that I was going to checkmate the political slavery my people have been into. “He said.
According to Joel, he is the people’s choice. “After the imposition of Chibe, my people sought for a young man who can help check the insult on the ward, and they unanimously found me worthy for the job and when the consulted me, I gave them an affirmative nod, ” he added.
Mr. Joel who is an IT expert stated that, for a very long time that free and fair election has been a mirage to his people. He however assured them that for once that they will witness a credible election because he will explore every option at his disposal to make sure their votes counts. “There will be no chance for rigging,” he enthused.
Mr Joel also told Ndokwa Reporters that, other political parties have adopted and endorsed him as their consensus Councillorship candidate in Ward 9B – APGA, YDP and Accord party.
Meanwhile, he has assured his ward that, if elected that he will train about 200 youths in ICT professional programmes; movie production; attack the security challenges in the Ward; reverberate the social life of the people and meet the needs of the aged in the area.
He therefore called on his supporters to come out and cast their votes come January 2018, and remain calm adding that they should embrace peace and shun violence at all costs because winning is assured.
