LAGOS/Nigeria: The Executive and member clan delegates have congratulated the newly elected chairmen and councillors into the three local Government Areas of Ndokwa/Ukwuani constituency in the January 6, 2018 Delta State Local Government Election.
In statement made available to www.ndokwareporters.com, the President General of the Ukwuani Foundation Union, (UFU), Chief Joseph Olise said that with the successful election, that it marks another phase of development for people of Ndokwa/Ukwuani as there was total peace during and after the elections in the area.
The statement reminded the elected officers that they should see their election as a call to duty, and for the common good of the people of the area, because they are there to ensure development of the Ndokwa nation.
“Take your new position as public officers as a call to serve. You are there for the sake of the people whom you represent. They gave you their votes because they trusted in you”. The statement stated.
It stated that there is no other expectation from the people of Ndokwa/Ukwuani as the people are expecting nothing but developments of the area, in terms of infrastructural development, job creations, security, health care and provisions of the necessary tools to easy the lives of the people.
“All we ask of you is development in the form of infrastructural development, Security in the area, health, creation of jobs and training of our youths and other things that will make life meaningful in your various local government areas.”
The social cultural body also felicitated with the state government, led by Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, for giving democracy a place in the state, as he kept his word of not going to allow care-taker committee to run the affairs of local government councils in the state.
“The Local Government Election was in keeping the word of the state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, who from his coming into office vowed that there will be no care-take government in the state. He had proved book makers wrong. We congratulate him for keeping democracy alive in the state”.
It noted that the governor did not only keep to his word, but he allowed a free and fair election in the state, as many part of the state witnessed a peaceful local council election.
“The governor allowed the Delta State Independent Election Commission, DSIEC, to operate without hindrance from the government, this showed in the conduct of the election where there was peace, in the state, especially in Ndokwa nation”.
