Delta Line Partially Privatized, Govt

ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Commissioner for Transport, Mr Vincent Uduaghan has stated that Delta Line Company was not out rightly sold as many people erroneously believed, but partially privatize to an investor with the state having 40% equity share and the investors having 60%.

Mr Uduaghan disclosed this when he appeared before the Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Transport to defend his Ministry’s 2019 financial year budget.

Uduaghan appeared with his management team to defend the Ministry’s 2019 financial budget before the Chairman of the Transport Committee Hon. Efe Godfrey Oforbruku and other members of the Committee said that the state government had performed creditably well, concerning the school of Marine Technology, stressing that so many of the courses have been accredited, adding that the state government was planning to make the school an envy of other schools in the country.

He disclosed that the state government had installed traffic lights in Warri, Uvwie and Asaba as well as other road,  and furniture has greatly reduce accidents, criminal activities as well as improvement on the driving culture of Motorists.

The transport Commissioner rated the performance of the Ministry for the year 2018 as 63% based on the approved projects and funds that were released.

Other members of the Transport Committee included Hon. Angela Nwaka, Hon. Diabo, Hon. Prince Johnson Erijo and Hon Azuka Azaka.
