ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Local content Agency (DSLCA) at its maiden stakeholder summit with the theme: Developing Delta State through the implementation the local content Law.
Declaring the event open, the chief host of the event, the executive governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, who was represented by the Secretary of the state government, Mr Patrick Ukah said the Agency which was established on the 15th of September, 2020 was created to enhance the industrialization of the state.
He further said that the governor’s vision is to transform Deltans from onlookers to partakers in the industrialization of the state.
He emphasised on the need to ensure that Deltans get 70% of the jobs available in the industries in the state by developing the skills, capacity and structures while ensuring a peaceful operating environment for investors.
In his opening speech, the pioneer director-general of the Agency, Hon. Dr. Morris Idiovwa said the Agency works by interfacing with the stakeholders in the industrial sectors in the state using dialogue to ensure a non-dispute engagement they will benefit all parties.
He further stated some of the Agency’s activities which include: coordination and embarking on programs to increase indigenous local content in the operation of companies in the state.
The DG also stated that one of the major duties of the Agency is to monitor and ensure compliance with the terms of any Memorandum of understanding, General Memorandum of understanding and agreements executed between companies and host and impacted communities within the stated.
There was an interactive session between major stakeholders, host communities and oil companies present at the event.
