Delta Monarch Charges Police on Adequate Security During Council Elections

EFFURUN/Nigeria: Ahead of the forthcoming local government council elections in Delta State, the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Dr Emmanuel Ekemejewa Sideso (JP) OON, Abe 1, has charged the Nigeria Police to provide adequate security before, during and after the elections in Uvwie Local Government Area.
The traditional ruler gave the charge during the familiarization visit of the new Warri Police Area Commander, ACP Abubaker Argungu to his palace, GRA, Effurun, on Wednesday September 2nd, 2020.
The traditional ruler stated Uvwie was the most peaceful local government areas in Delta State during the last general elections and charged the police to provide security during the forthcoming election/ selection of executives of Ekpan Development Committee (EDC) and Committee Liaison Officers (CLOs) as well as implement the ban on commercial motorcycle (Okada) riders in Ekpan area. He noted that most Okada riders in the area were policemen.
The Uvwie monarch further charged the police to assist in traffic control in Uvwie Local Government Area.
He also requested that a police area command be created in Uvwie and that Effurun should have a divisional police headquarters.
While commending the police for the prevailing peace in Uvwie Local Government Area, he stressed for the sustenance of the peace in order to attract investors to the area.
ACP Argungu had earlier explained that he was at the palace to receive royal blessing and support from Abe 1.
While thanking the traditional ruler for the warmed reception accorded him and his encourage, he promised to be professional in the discharge of his duties.
High point of the event was a prayer said for the visiting new Warri Police Area Commander, ACP Argungu by the Ovie of Uvwie monarch.
