Delta Monarch Places Curse on Perpetrators of Hostilities in His Community

EFFURUN/Nigeria: The Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Dr Emmanuel Ekemejewa Sideso ( JP) OON, Abe 1. has placed curses on perpetrators of the mayhem in Uvwie Local Government Area.

The Ovie made the pronouncement recently in his address at a stakeholders meeting he convened at his palace, GRA, Effurun.

The Uvwie monarch who accused politicians in Uvwie of giving backing to restive youths swore that the blood of those who lost their lives would be on the heads of the perpetrators, saying they would not go unpunished, condemning the destruction of properties and molestation and deprivation of innocent people of their means of livelihood.

While saying that the restive youths were not wholly indigenes of Uvwie Kingdom, the monarch noted that the indigenes gave the non indigenes the room to operate, referring to an incident where out of fifteen hoodlums caught in the act of hooliganism last year, only three were identified as indigenes of Uvwie Kingdom.

“We do not discriminate against non indigenes. Most non indigenes residing in Uvwie Kingdom were amongst those that benefited from the scholarship scheme of the palace,” adding that any non indigene who perpetrate evil in Uvwie was also under the curse.

While urging the stakeholders to ensure that the forthcoming general elections in Uvwie were peaceful, he advised the police to see themselves as carrier officers, saying they should not allow themselves to be used by unscrupulous politicians.

He said that the police could handle the youth hostilities if they really wanted to, maintaining that the army could only be invited in to curtail the hostilities of the restive youths as a last resort.

The Ovie called on residents to always furnish the police with useful information that could lead to the arrest of the hoodlums even as he called for strict confidentiality by the police in treating information given to them.

He promised to give the police all the necessary support in the prevention and combating of crime in the area and urged the police to apprehend anybody caught with arms.

Chief Sunny Dabone who spoke at the event, advised the police to change their methods of apprehending criminals by disguising in the use of the patrol vehicles either by using tricycles (keke) or plain coloured vehicles in their operations.

Leaders of the various political parties and other stakeholders pledged their support for peace in their various submissions.

Representatives of All Progressive Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Social Democratic Party (SDP), Labour Party ( LP), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), divisional police officers, officers of the State Security Service (SSS), traders unions, Uvwie General Improvement Union (UGIU), Uvwie Traditional Council of Chiefs and traditional groups in Uvwie Kingdom were at the stakeholders meeting.
