Delta Monarch Warns Against Wrong Identification of Kingdom

EFFURUN/Nigeria: The Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Dr Emmanuel Ekemejewa Sideso (JP) OON, Abe I, has warned against wrong identification of any part of his kingdom by government, corporate bodies and individuals.

The traditional ruler handed down the warning in his address during the Uvwie prayer day and worship held at the Palace of the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom in G.R.A Effurun on Monday October 1st, 2018.

HRM Sideso stated that Uvwie has never discriminated against non-indigenes as could be seen in the award of scholarships to non-indigenes by the Abe I Scholarship Scheme to non indigenes in the area,

He therefore called on non-indigenes in the area to see Uvwie Kingdom as their home and not to live in Uvwie Kingdom in transit, even as he urged them to contribute to the development of the area.

The Uvwie monarch advised non indigenes, government agencies and corporate bodies in Uvwie to take special cognizance of the boundaries between Uvwie Local Government Area and neighbouring local government areas so as to avoid the wrong identification of Uvwie Local Government Area with neighbouring local government areas, calling on those who had made wrong identification of the area to correct the error, as he noted that such wrong identification could cause dispute between Uvwie and her neighbouring local government areas.

He had earlier expressed gratitude to God for the completion of the permanent palace of the Ovie of Uvwie kingdom and appreciation to Governor Okowa for the commencement and commissioning of the Itsekiri/Ugbomro Federal University Road and contribution to Abe I scholarship scheme.

The Ovie of Uvwie kingdom also called on the presidency and the National Assembly to prevail on the Nigerian Army to release the unused acquired lands to Uvwie people.

On the 2019 general elections he advised politicians to play politics without bitterness.

He also expressed appreciation to the organizers of the annual event – Uvwie Christian indigenes Forum for their prayers which he noted have rapidly transformed Uvwie kingdom to an enviable place.

The Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Council, Hon Ramson Tega Onoyake represented by His Vice, Chief Napoleon Iffie in his address thanked the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom for hosting the annual event.

In his sermon, Rev. Father Dr Oghenejode Ambrose Abaka reasoned that positive development in an area is predicated on prayers to God and therefore stressed the importance of the annual event.

The event featured prayers to God for Abe I and his nuclear family, Uvwie Chiefs, Uvwie Local Government Council, Delta State and Nigeria.
