Ogwashi-Uku: Members of the Delta State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have been charged to support the laudable vision encapsulated in the SMART agenda of the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa administration, even as they have been urged to remain faithful, loyal and steadfast to the party’s ideals and objective, despite the harsh economic realities of the present times.
This call was made by the chairman, Delta North PDP, Hon. Moses Iduh, during the inauguration of the Delta North PDP executive council, at the party secretariat, Ogwashi Uku, the Headquarters of Delta North Senatorial zone, in Aniocha South LGA of Delta State.
Addressing the newly inaugurated Delta North, PDP Exco, the Chairman, told them not only to see their election as a call to service, but also to put the interest of the Party first and embrace the virtues of due diligence, as stipulated in the party’s rules and guidelines, in addressing the political expectations of party members. .
While advising the exco members to eschew favouritism and godfatherism in the discharge of their responsibilities, Iduh charged them to carry all party members along, stressing that they should also encourage stake-holders to participate fully in party activities, even as he added that though the PDP was the ruling party in Delta State, they were no longer in their comfort zone as the opposition at the national level and it was imperative to showcase the laudable initiatives and achievements of the Okowa administration, to attract more members to the fold and reclaim the lost glory of the PDP as the number one party in the country, come 2019.
Iduh, who noted that the present harsh financial conditions had greatly impacted on the economy of the state, however extolled the virtues of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, who he described as ‘a miracle working Governor’, adding that the massive commissioning of projects across the three senatorial zones in the state, which have hallmarked the one year anniversary celebration of the Okowa administration, was not only a clear testimony of the determination of the administration to bring prosperity to all Deltans, but indeed a solid platform for the newly inaugurated exco members to showcase the PDP in Delta State to the rest of the world.
Giving the vote of thanks at the end of the inauguration, Mr. John Emenem, an elected Ex-officio member from Ika South, pledged that the new Delta North PDP Exco, would put party first in all its dealings, seek wider consultation with elders and party members before taking decisions and also carry all party members along in the discharge of their responsibilities.
In his own comment, the State Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Obi Nzeteh, while describing the Chairman of Delta North PDP, Hon. Moses Iduh as a tried, tested and loyal party man, who will certainly take the party in the zone to greater heights, stressed that the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC Party had performed so woefully at the national level and this has provided ample opportunity for the PDP to now showcase its self once again and take what rightly belongs to the party at the national level, adding that though the PDP has no tangible opposition in Delta North, members must not rest on their oars or allow the present financial condition to deter them, but should rather be resolute and committed to the party’s ideals and objectives.
Former Delta State PDP Chairman, Chief Edwin Uzor, while hailing the rancor-free, credible congresses and elections that produced the Party executives at all levels, expressed joy over the smooth transition and, while affirming that the Party was ‘in his blood’, as a former chairman, pledged to continue to support the party in all its endeavours.
In their separate comments, the Delta State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Ifeanyi Osuoza (Agenda) and the Chairman, Ukwuani LGA, Hon. Moses Iduh and while expressing their confidence in his ability to deliver quality leadership as Chairman, Delta North PDP, urged party members to rally behind him and eschew acts that are liable to cause disharmony in the party, even as they urged all party faithful to support the laudable initiatives of the Okowa administration, with the objective of achieving the SMART agenda and delivering prosperity to all Deltans.
