ASABA/Nigeria: Former Delta State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, made a significant appearance at the weekend during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State Congress in Asaba, where he was greeted with enthusiasm by thousands of party delegates.
Leading the delegation from his Ika North East Local Government Area, Dr. Okowa joined fellow PDP members in casting his vote, pausing occasionally to acknowledge the cheers of over 3,000 participants. This congress, the first since his tenure as governor from 2015 to 2023, highlighted his enduring influence within the party.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme, Senator Ned Nwoko, Senator James Manager, and Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, were among the prominent figures present alongside Okowa.
Following his accreditation by national PDP officials, the former governor cast his vote at approximately 1:35 p.m., reinforcing the party’s commitment to internal democracy. After voting, he returned to his seat, waiting for the outcome with the rest of the delegates.
The congress concluded with Chief Solomon Arenyeka being elected as the State PDP Chairman. Other key officials elected included Mr. Moses Iduh as Deputy Chairman, Engr. Daniel Ossai as Vice Chairman for Delta North Senatorial District, Hon. Anthony Akpomiemie as Vice Chairman for Delta Central, and Chief Emmanuel Amgbaduba as Vice Chairman for Delta South.
The newly elected State Working Committee also includes Chief Isaac Itebu as Secretary, Chief Chibuzor Uwajei as State Treasurer, Hon. Fidelis Adjogbe as Financial Secretary, Dr. Ebenezer Okorodudu as Publicity Secretary, Hon. Emmanuel Egbabor as Organizing Secretary, Barr. Hessington Okolo as State Legal Adviser, Chief Mrs. Dora Sakpaide as State Woman Leader, Barr. Francis Okolie as State Youth Leader, and Pastor Alex Akemotubo as State Auditor.
