Delta Persec Exhorts Chief of Okpanam

OKPANAM/Nigeria: The Odogwu of Okpanam, the Late Chief Peter Dunkwu has been described as an accomplished educationist and outstanding community leader.

The Permanent Secretary, Directorate of Government House and Protocol, Mr Edwin Ogidi-Gbegbaje stated this in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area of the state during an evening of tribute organised in honour of the deceased.

Mr Ogidi-Gbegbaje, who stated that the deceased had contributed immensely towards the development of humanity, advised his children to sustain the legacies of their father who died at the age of 94 years.

He said that his life was worthy of emulation, adding that the late Chief Dr. Peter Dunkwu was also a devout Christian who lived his life with the fear of God.

In their separate tributes, the President of the University of Ibadan, Prof. Elsie Adewoye, represented by the former Head of Service (HOS), Sir Okey Ofili who is the President of the University, Asaba branch, Mr. Okonjo noted that the deceased was a bridge builder both within the association and the wider society.

They said that the deceased lived a fulfilled and exemplary life and rendered productive services to Bendel State as well as his community where he served as the Odogwu of Okpanam.

On his part, the Ugoani of Okpanam, HRM (Dr) Michael Mbanefo Ogbolu described the late Odogwu of Okpanam as a great asset and pillar to the community, adding that his numerous contributions had redefined development in the community.

He said that the deceased was an uncommon disciplinarian and community developer, stressing that he was involved in selfless service for the development of his environment.
