Asaba: Determined to eradicate all forms of crimes, Delta State Police Command has arrested twelve teenage students of Osadenis High School Asaba, for alleged involvement in cultism and other related acts.
While the command also arrested a fake policeman, it disclosed that calibre explosive devices were uncovered in Ndokwa axis, in attempt to bomb Agip Oil Company in the area.
Briefing journalists yesterday in Asaba, Saturday, 19 November, 2016, the Police Commissioner in the state, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim, said the teenagers were arrested on a tip-off during initiation of a new cult group identified as “future trigger boys”, adding the suspects upon interrogation confessed to the crime.
He said that investigation of their involvement in the cult activities was ongoing as the police will leave no stones unturned to bring to book all secret cult members in the state.
On the fake policeman, the police boss said that the suspect identified as Chiemeka Telvin 43 years old was dismissed from the police force in 2006, adding that since then he had been indulging on illegal activities, especially, hanging out as escort to high profile businessmen and women who unknowingly reward him with huge sums of money before nemesis caught up with him.
But in a swift response to journalists’ questions, the suspect admitted that he had been doing illegal activities with the police uniform to eke a living for himself and family members.
Saying that the recovered calibre improvised explosive devices were uncovered by officers and men of state criminal investigating department, (SCIID), the police commissioner further disclosed the police acted on a tip-off following the attempt by some disgruntled persons to bomb Agip Oil Installation in Kwale axis, adding the followings were recovered: 2, 4.1 liter in container, 8, 5.1 liter in container, 2. electric detonators, 3. non electric detonators, 4. strands of cortex as preliminary investigation revealed that the IED’s were to be utilized against Agip facilities.
On human trafficking, the police boss said detectives at child stealing/human trafficking unit in Umutu Police Division, arrested one Emmanuel Udeagwu 37 years old, of Ogbe-ofu Quarters, Issele-Uku, Celestina Enebeli, 38 years old of Isunpe, Utagba-unor, Ndokwa West for alleged human trafficking and recovered, one Miracle Ifeakam 4 years old of Ebedei Adonishaka, Ukwuani Local Government Area of the state and Master Precious Uchendu 6 years old of Ebedei Adonishaka, Ukwuani Local Government Area of the state, adding that the suspects would be charged to court on completion of investigation.
Also, the police commissioner said that four kidnap suspects were arrested under the period reviewed by the police detectives attached to the state police command on a tip-off and gave their names as follows: Malarchy Chikwado 28 years old, 10, Okocha Street, Cable Point, Asaba,John Obi 22 years old, 22, Femi-Okun Estate, Lekki, Lagos, Osita Obiakwe, 24 yearsold, 4 Jarret Street, Ogbe-ofu, Asaba and Ezeah Chinedu, 36 years old, Uzowani, Igbueze, Enugu State, adding that the victim Okpoke Michael 26 years old of Victor Iweka Street, Bonsac Asaba was rescued by the police unhurt.
He said that the suspects will be charged to court on completion of investigation.
