ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Police Command has recorded significant victories in its relentless fight against crime in Ughelli and neighbouring communities, arresting armed robbery suspects, recovering stolen vehicles and weapons, and dismantling a drug syndicate.

At a press briefing in Ughelli, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, said the operations underscored the commitment of Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, to rid the state of criminal elements. “Residents of Ughelli and its environs can be assured that crime and corruption will be drastically reduced with the deployment of the new area command,” Edafe assured.

Among the breakthroughs was the arrest of a five-man robbery gang led by a notorious suspect popularly known as “Big Man.” Police also recovered stolen SUVs linked to a violent robbery in Sapele, and arrested three men alleged to specialize in snatching motorcycles at gunpoint.

In another operation, police operatives apprehended a 52-year-old woman, identified as Egbule Isioma, described as a major dealer in illicit drugs. A large cache of codeine, tramadol, cannabis and other contraband was recovered from her shop and residence in Afisere.

SP Edafe disclosed that investigations are ongoing, adding that the command will sustain its crackdown on criminal networks across the state. He urged residents to remain vigilant and to provide credible information that would assist security agencies in flushing out criminals.
