ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Police Command has recorded two separate breakthroughs in its operations across the state, recovering a stolen Toyota Corolla in Ughelli and arresting two men after 132 sachets of Tramadol were allegedly found in a commercial bus in Asaba.
The developments were disclosed in a statement issued on August 14, 2026, by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP. Bright Edafe, in Asaba.
The vehicle recovery followed a report received by the police on August 13 that an ash-coloured 2003 Toyota Corolla, with registration number WW-579MD, had been stolen from where it was parked at Awani Close, Ajamugha, Warri.
Detectives attached to ‘A’ Division, Warri, immediately began tracing the vehicle in collaboration with the Dragon Patrol Team. Their efforts led to its recovery along Winners Church Road, Ughelli, about two hours after the theft was reported.
The police said investigation was continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the theft and identify those responsible.
In the second operation, officers attached to Operation Delta Shield intercepted a Toyota Hiace bus during a stop-and-search operation along Nnebisi Road, Asaba, on the same day.
According to the Command, the search resulted in the recovery of 132 sachets of 100mg Tramadol and the arrest of two suspects, Hillary Osondu, 54, and Abubakar Bello, 54.
The two suspects remain in police custody as detectives investigate the source and intended destination of the drugs and determine their alleged involvement in the offence.
Reacting to the operations, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi commended the officers for their prompt response and operational coordination.
Oyeniyi urged personnel across the Command to sustain proactive and intelligence-led policing, stressing the need for officers to remain responsive to security threats and criminal activities across the state.
He also called on residents to assist the police by providing credible information about suspicious persons and activities in their communities.
The Commissioner assured residents that the Command would continue to deploy available resources towards preventing and detecting crime, while strengthening efforts to protect lives and property across Delta State.
The police said investigations into the vehicle theft and suspected drug-related offence were ongoing.
