ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Police Command has announced that it will commence full enforcement of regulations on tinted vehicle glass across the state from Thursday, October 2, 2025.
In a statement issued in Asaba on Tuesday, the Command warned that motorists found flouting the law will be arrested and prosecuted in line with federal directives. The operation, according to the police, will be carried out professionally, with respect for citizens’ rights and zero tolerance for abuse.
The Command also reiterated the ban on unauthorized use of sirens and revolving or strobe lights, as well as the covering, defacing, or obstruction of number plates by private individuals and officials not entitled to them.
“Motorists are reminded to carry their valid driver’s licence, insurance, and proof of ownership while ensuring that their vehicle glass meets legal transparency standards. Number plates must remain clear, legible, and properly affixed at all times. No bending, flipping, tinting, or covering that renders them unreadable will be tolerated,” the statement read.
Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, said the clampdown is aimed at stopping road intimidation, improving public safety, and restoring order. He directed Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to closely supervise field operations to ensure civility and respect for human rights.
“The measures are intended to curb road intimidation, strengthen deterrence, and improve public safety. Defaulters will face the full wrath of the law,” CP Olufemi stated.
The police encouraged members of the public to comply with the regulations and report any misconduct by officers through the Command’s Complaint Response Unit.
