EMEVOR/Nigeria: Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has assured that his administration will continue to provide funding for ongoing projects in the state to ensure their prompt completion. He made this statement while inspecting Sector ‘A’ and Sector ‘C’ of the Ughelli-Asaba road dualisation project.
During the inspection of Sector ‘A’ in Emevor, the governor commended the contractor for the progress made on the project and emphasized its importance to the people of Delta State. He urged the contractor to put in more effort to ensure the project is completed as early as possible. The contractor has assured the governor that the 42.5km Sector ‘A’ will be completed within 18 months, provided their certificates are paid regularly.
Governor Oborevwori stressed the significance of the road, not only for the Isoko people but for all residents of Delta State, as it serves as the main access road to the state capital. He expressed his commitment to seeing the project through and stated that it was the first inspection he conducted since assuming office as governor.
The governor also acknowledged the support of the Isoko people and their desire to see the project completed. He promised to continue monitoring the progress of the work and encouraged the contractors to utilize their time effectively to finish the dual carriageway before the rainy season begins. As long as the work meets the satisfaction of the government, the governor assured that payment for certificates would be made promptly.
Regarding Sector ‘C’ of the project in Ogwashi-Uku and Ibusa, the contractor promised to deliver a substantial portion of the project before the end of the year.
Former Special Project Director of Sector ‘A’, Chief Sunny Onuesoke, expressed satisfaction with the work done by the contractor and reported that 17 percent of the project has been completed thus far.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works, Engr Fred Edafioghor, who conducted the governor on the project tour, stated that the contractors were working day and night to meet the project’s deadlines.
