Asaba: The Delta State chapter of the Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria, ACNPN, has inaugurated a 4-man interim committee to pilot the affairs of the association and work to install a substantive executive for the body on or before the end of May, 2017.
The Interim Committee headed by Comrade Precious Enebuse as Chairman, Mr. Okpomor Okies Vicky as Secretary, Prince Daniel Ekiugbo as Treasurer and Mr. Ozonuwe S. A. as Public Relations Officer, was formally elected by members of the body in a meeting at the Bellwood Hotel, Asaba, Tuesday April 11, 2017, shortly after a courtesy visit to the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Mr. Patrick Uka.
Apart from ensuring that it organizes an election to install a substantive executive for the Association, the Interim Committee is also saddled with the responsibility of ensuring that the association is placed on a sound footing that could enhance and maximize opportunities for members of the body.
In his acceptance speech, Comr. Enebuse thanked members of the Association for the confidence reposed in him and the other members of the Interim Committee, just as he assured that the Committee will work assiduously to implement the aims and objectives of the association within the stipulated time and ensure that the mandate given to them was achieved.
He said he would stir the Interim Committee to immediately swing into action in a bid to ensure that all that is needed to be done was done towards the attainment of a substantive executive, which he emphasized is the sacred mandate of his committee.
Meanwhile, the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Mr. Patrick Uka, has commended the ACNPN members for the visit and especially for shielding their swords and coming back together under one umbrella as a united body, as publishers in the state has been factionalized under various associations.
