Delta Renovates Lodge, Restates Commitment To Corps Members Welfare

ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Government has reiterated its commitment towards the welfare of Youth Corp Members in the state.

The Commissioner for Youth Development, Comrade Ifeanyi Egwunyenga, stated at the handing over of the renovated NYSC Lodge off Maryam Babangida Way, Okpanam Road, Asaba.

Comrade Egwunyenga, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth Development, Ms Ngozi Mogbolu, stated that the lodge was of utmost importance to corps members, especially those who do not have a place to lay their head after the three weeks orientation camp.

He said that Delta State Government through the Ministry of Youth Development deemed it fit to renovate the lodge to make it habitable and comfortable for corps members.

Egwunyenga, expressing satisfaction at the job, stated that it met the specification as prescribed by the Ministry of Housing.

Mr Kelvin Nwachukwu, the representative of PROVISO Integrated Services Limited, stated that the lodge, which had 20 rooms, two lounges, 24 rest rooms, handed over to the Ministry of Youth Development, was done in accordance with the Ministry of Housing specification.

He expressed gratitude to the Delta State Government for finding them worthy of handling the project.

The inspection visit had the Director of Planning Research and Statistics, (DPRS) Mr Godwin Ikenyen, Mr Efeturi Obeh, an Assistant Chief Admin Officer in the department.

The highlight of the event was the handing over of the keys to the permanent secretary in the ministry.
