ASABA/Nigeria: Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has commended Rt. Hon. Francis Ejiroghene Waive, the Member Representing Ughelli-Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, for prioritizing the interest of Delta State above party affiliations.
Guwor’s remarks came in response to Waive’s endorsement of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for a second term and his call for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State to adopt the governor as the party’s sole candidate for the 2027 governorship election. The Speaker lauded Waive’s courage in breaking party lines to support the ongoing development strides in the state.
“It takes courage to set aside party affiliations and prioritize the interests of the people. Even the blind can feel the positive impact of Governor Oborevwori’s administration over the past one year and ten months,” Guwor stated.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, the Speaker urged other well-meaning Deltans to rally behind the governor in his quest to build a greater Delta State. Addressing concerns raised by some APC members over Waive’s stance, Guwor stressed the need for unity and collaboration in the state’s political landscape.
“By adopting Governor Oborevwori as the sole candidate in 2027, the APC would be demonstrating a commitment to putting the people first over partisan interests. A united front will not only promote the state’s development but also ensure the welfare of its citizens,” he said.
Guwor maintained that another term for Oborevwori would further consolidate the achievements of the MORE agenda and usher in greater prosperity for Delta State.
