ASABA/Nigeria: Hon (Mrs) Marylyn Okowa-Daramola, Chairman of the Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriations, spoke to reporters following the passage of the 2024 budget.
Highlighting the rationale behind the additional 10.5 billion naira allocation, she emphasized the focus on vital sectors such as Works, Urban Renewal, and Health. Okowa-Daramola, representing Ika North East, underscored the budget’s alignment with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s ‘MORE agenda,’ labeling it a reflection of the present and a testament to hope and optimism.
In an exhaustive process involving committee discussions and interactions with various ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), the Finance and Appropriation Committee delved into the proposed estimates. Okowa-Daramola noted the enthusiasm of Assembly members, expressing excitement in contributing to the successful conclusion of the state’s first Appropriation Bill under the 8th Assembly.
Acknowledging the governor’s commitment to infrastructure, she emphasized the necessity of supporting his vision for Delta State’s development.
Okowa-Daramola reiterated the budget’s aim to bolster critical sectors like health, infrastructure, and urban renewal, affirming Deltans’ anticipation for increased progress.

The Delta State House of Assembly ultimately approved a budget size of N724.979 Billion for the 2024 fiscal year, marking a noteworthy increase from the initially proposed N714 Billion by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
