Delta State Assembly Committee on Works Inspects Infrastructure Projects in Isoko North and South

OLEH/Nigeria: The Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Works and Special Projects, led by its Chairman, Hon. Oboro Kenneth Preyor, on Friday inspected ongoing infrastructure projects in Isoko North and South Local Government Areas as part of its oversight duties.
The inspection aimed to assess the progress of road projects being executed by the Oborevwori-led administration in rural communities across the state.
Hon. Preyor, accompanied by fellow committee members Hon. Emmanuel Sinebe, Ferguson Onwo, Edafe Emakpor, Bridget Anyafulu, and Ebitonmo Alapala, along with representatives of the State Ministry of Works, expressed satisfaction with the government’s commitment to developing rural road infrastructure.
Among the projects inspected was the 24-kilometer reconstruction of the Ellu-Ovrode-Ofagbe-Orieriri-Okpe Isoko-Ada-Irri road, which links several communities in both Isoko North and Isoko South. The committee also visited the construction sites of the 2.1-kilometer phase I and the 5.43-kilometer phase III of the Okpolo-Enwhe-Uwheru road in Isoko South.
Hon. Preyor reaffirmed the Delta Assembly’s dedication to its constitutional oversight responsibilities, noting that the committee would continue to support Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration in promoting comprehensive development across the state. He stressed that road infrastructure is central to the MORE agenda of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration and emphasized the need for timely completion of state-awarded projects.
“Rural road projects are key to opening up grassroots development,” Preyor stated, commending Governor Oborevwori for prioritizing investments in rural infrastructure. He assured the people of Isoko that the governor remains committed to delivering the promised dividends of democracy, particularly through road construction that would boost economic activity in remote areas.
Preyor also urged contractors handling government projects to strictly adhere to approved designs and specifications, ensuring that all projects are delivered within the stipulated timelines. He called on host communities to cooperate with both the government and contractors to ensure the smooth and peaceful execution of ongoing projects. He further advised communities to maintain the completed projects to sustain their benefits.
Hon. Ferguson Onwo, a committee member representing Isoko South 2, lauded the state government for embarking on extensive road construction projects in the Isoko region. He highlighted the positive impact these projects will have on local residents and commended the administration for its focus on rural development.
The committee’s oversight inspections of infrastructure projects will continue in other parts of the state, as the Assembly seeks to ensure that all ongoing projects are executed to standard and delivered in good time.
