Delta State Assembly Pledges to Elevate Education Standards

ASABA/Nigeria: In a resolute declaration, Chairman of the Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Education, Hon. Charles Chukwuemeke Emetulu, has affirmed the unwavering dedication of the 8th Delta Assembly to uplifting the state’s education sector to meet the desires and ambitions of Deltans.
Hon. Emetulu made this assertion during the Committee’s oversight visits to the Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku in Aniocha South and Dennis Osadebay University, Anwai-Asaba, Oshimili South. Accompanied by the Vice Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Benson Obire, and other members, including Hon. Ferguson Onwo, Emmanuel Sinebe, Matthew Omonade, Bridget Anyafulu, Chukwudi Dafe, and Marylyn Okowa-Daramola, the lawmaker emphasized the paramount importance of education in achieving comprehensive development.
Expressing contentment with the infrastructural progress at Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, Hon. Emetulu commended the collaborative efforts of the State Government, stakeholders, management, and the Students Union in realizing significant milestones. He emphasized that legislative oversight is a constitutional mandate aimed at ensuring financial prudence, transparency, and adherence to standards.
Emetulu reiterated the State Assembly’s commitment to delivering positive outcomes across all sectors, highlighting Delta state’s educational advancement as a focal point. The Committee also inspected completed and ongoing projects at the Polytechnic, praising the institution’s technological focus under its management team.
At Dennis Osadebe University, Asaba, Hon. Emetulu expressed confidence in the institution’s continued growth and development, despite being established less than four years ago. While urging the University’s management to enhance its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), he assured of the legislature’s unwavering support in overcoming challenges.
The Committee’s visit included a tour of various completed and ongoing projects at the University, showcasing investments from TETfund, CBN, and the state government.
Commending the Lawmakers for their dedication, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof Johnbull Tonukari, appreciated the Committee’s efforts in ensuring infrastructural and academic excellence in higher institutions within the state.
Rector of the Delta State Polytechnic Ogwashi-Uku, Professor Emmanuel Achuenu, and the Vice-Chancellor of Dennis Osadebe University, Professor Ben Oghojafor, highlighted their institutions’ achievements and challenges, appealing for government intervention to address pressing issues.
