ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Commissioner for Finance, Sir Fidelis Tilije has stated that the State governments would not continue to condone the continuous deductions of funds at the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee, FAAC.
Tilije made this declaration during an interview with journalists in Asaba.
The Commissioner for Finance called on the Nigeria Labour Congress to step up to the occasion and demand for the accurate figures as regards the fuel being expended each day.
Tilije charged Deltans and Nigerians at large to always hold their elected leaders accountable for their actions and demand for information when need be as he stressed that this is an issue that concerns every Nigerian.
He said ” Nobody is able to question exactly where these subsidies are being paid to. Who are the people consuming the fuel?”
“We keep spending funds to revive our refineries but what has happened to them? Has anybody checked how corruption is taking away the funds? Why are the refineries not functioning?”, he went on.
He reiterated that the Federal Government and the NNPC must be made to give account of the funds collected and what they were used for.
