Delta State Chief Judge Implements Measures for Accelerated Trial of Cases in Different Courts, Including Obiaruku

OBIARUKU/Nigeria: In a move aimed at expediting the hearing and trial of cases, judges in Delta State have been assigned to various areas, including Obiaruku in Ukwuani Local Government Area. This development was revealed by the State Chief Judge, Justice Theresa Diai, during her visit to the Agbor Correctional Centre as part of the second quarter prison visit.

Justice Dai emphasized that the trial process would be significantly faster if cases were distributed among different courts. Speaking at the Agbor Correctional Centre, she disclosed that a total of 207 warrants were reviewed, with no inmates being either released or granted bail. She also mentioned that some judges from the state were engaged in national assignments.

Commending the efforts of the Solicitor-General/Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Justice, Mr. Erebe Omamuzo, the Deputy Controller of the Agbor Custodial Centre, as well as the judges and other stakeholders, Justice Dai expressed her appreciation for their contributions in ensuring the success of these visits.

During the welcome address, the Deputy Controller expressed gratitude to the Chief Judge for her regular visits to custodial centers in the state. In particular, he thanked her for the previous release of some inmates, highlighting the positive impact of her actions.
