SAPELE/Nigeria: The New Delta State Commissioner of Police. Mohammed Aliyu has visited Sapele Area command to bring the issue of community policing closer to the people.
According to him the purpose of the visit to Sapele Area command is to partner with the community to have a good security and he also assured Sapele community of adequate security.
However Mohammed disclosed that a place where there’s no security and peace investors cannot establish there, adding that the police cannot fetch the bad eggs alone that he needs the community support to reduce the rate of crime in Delta state.
While addressing the gathering Aliyu said he have zero tolerance for corruption because corruption is another criminality, that if you see police men on the road and they abuse you and brutalize you or collect money from you unlawful you can report the matter to the DPO of that area, and if the matter is not properly address you can also channel it to the CP table.
He added that police are not magicians or spirits, that the police alone cannot know what is happening in the community and its the duty of the community policing to alert the police what is happening in the community.
The various complaints about Police extortion and brutality might soon be a thing of the past if the visit and assurance of Aliyu is anything to go bye.
