Delta State Commissioner of Police Urges Ika Security Volunteers to Uphold Lawfulness

ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State’s Commissioner of Police, Mr. Wale Abass, has issued a stern admonition to the Ika security volunteers, urging them to steer clear of any form of criminal activities or lawlessness within the Ika federal constituency.

This charge was delivered during a courtesy visit paid by the Ika security volunteers to Mr. Abass at his office in Asaba. Commending the group for their dedication and sacrifice, he pledged an even stronger collaborative relationship and ongoing partnership.

Emphasizing the importance of maintaining a pristine reputation, Mr. Abass urged the members to avoid engaging in any criminal or lawless acts within their jurisdiction, noting, “Members of the society are watching all your movements with the motive of faulting your actions, that is why you must be very careful and avoid anything that will drag your image in the mud.”

He further advised the group to remain vigilant and actively support the police by providing pertinent information about criminal hideouts, emphasizing that effective security is rooted in cooperation and synergy.

Addressing concerns about an alleged special team potentially engaging in extortion in Agbor, Owa, and surrounding areas, the CP urged the volunteer leadership to promptly report any such incidents to the Agbor Area command, cautioning against taking matters into their own hands.

In an earlier statement, the convener of the group and the Executive Assistant on security matters to the Governor of Delta State, Hon. Friday Okoh, praised the Commissioner of Police for the significant strides in various security initiatives across the state. Okoh highlighted the group’s visit as an expression of gratitude and an official introduction aimed at fortifying the established synergy between the volunteers and the Police, as well as other security operatives in the state.
