Delta State Deputy Governor Assures Actors Guild of an Inclusive Government

ASABA/Nigeria: The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, has pledged the administration’s commitment to an all-encompassing government during a meeting with members of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN). He assured them that the government under Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori does not discriminate and is dedicated to including diverse ethnicities and professional bodies.

The assurance came to light during a courtesy visit by the AGN, led by their National President, Chief Emeka Rollas, to the Government House in Asaba on Monday. Onyeme expressed gratitude for the role played by the AGN during the 2023 general elections, emphasizing the significance of inclusive governance.

“In your speech, you talked about the inclusion of some of your members in the present administration; I can assure you that I will convey your message to my Governor, our Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and I am very sure His Excellency will be very receptive about this because our government is an inclusive one.

“Non-indigenes definitely will have roles to play in this administration; so, the Igbo community, Yoruba community, and Hausa community are part of our government. Also, professional bodies like yours will be active in this government because it is our government,” Onyeme affirmed.

The Deputy Governor also promised the AGN that the state government would remain keenly interested in the activities taking place at the multi-million naira Film Village.

“Anybody with good intentions will be interested in knowing about what goes on in an edifice that gulped hundreds of millions of Naira,” he added.

In response, Chief Emeka Rollas expressed the AGN’s satisfaction with the conducive environment provided by the Delta State government for their activities. He stated that the association had been supportive of past administrations and was equally willing to extend their support to the Oborevwori-led government.

Rollas appealed to the state government to revitalize the Film Village, transforming it into a vibrant meeting point for actors nationwide.

Renowned actress, Evangelist Patience Ozorkwor, also lauded the Delta State government for its positive role in supporting the Actors Guild of Nigeria since its inception. She especially acknowledged the provision of the impressive Film Village, which was built and donated to the organization by a past administration.

Ozorkwor emphasized that Delta State’s encouragement of film production had created opportunities for marketers to invest more in the thriving film industry. She highlighted the transformation in how actors are perceived, stating that today they are regarded as professionals regardless of formal education.

The Deputy Governor’s assurance of an inclusive government signals a positive step towards fostering collaboration and representation among diverse communities and professional groups in Delta State. As the administration continues to prioritize an inclusive approach, the AGN eagerly anticipates further support for their activities and the revival of the Film Village as a hub for creative endeavors.
