Delta State Deputy Speaker Commends Governor Oborevwori’s Leadership for Political Turnaround in Ethiope East

EKU/Nigeria: In a resounding display of gratitude and acknowledgment, the Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Arthur Akpowowo, has praised the visionary leadership of the state governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, for his instrumental role in the recent political transformation of Ethiope East State Constituency. Akpowowo made these remarks during a New Year party organized at his residence in Eku.
Expressing his appreciation, the Deputy Speaker highlighted Governor Oborevwori’s contributions to good governance and political unity in the region. “The governor’s magnanimity is inestimable,” Akpowowo stated, emphasizing the positive impact of the governor’s leadership on the appointment of key officials within the locality.
Akpowowo underscored the significance of Governor Oborevwori’s divine governorship ticket in 2023, attributing it to the political fortunes enjoyed by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ethiope East. He pointed out that the PDP’s victory in both the governorship and House of Assembly elections marked a crucial turning point after nearly two decades of subpar performance.
Highlighting the role of the governor in his own election as Deputy Speaker, Akpowowo acknowledged the need for extensive consultations among party leaders and stakeholders, as well as cooperation from his colleagues in the House.
The Deputy Speaker commended Governor Oborevwori’s dedication to the “MORE agenda to Advance Delta,” citing ongoing infrastructure projects such as the construction of flyovers, road expansions, and pedestrian bridges across the state as evidence of the administration’s commitment to development.
The event also witnessed the endorsement of Governor Oborevwori through a vote of confidence, moved by former House of Representatives member Rt Hon Sunny Akpodiogaga Emeyese and seconded by Chief Midwest Omo West. Leaders present at the gathering affirmed the vote of confidence, highlighting the governor’s competence, good governance strides, and impartial leadership style.
Notable attendees included the LGA Chairman of PDP, Hon Felix Erhimedafe, Chief Bernard Edewor, Chief Michael Adiotomre, Pharmacist Victor Ofobrukueta, and several other political appointees and party leaders from the region. The occasion also saw the reception of defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC), further consolidating PDP’s influence in Ethiope East.
