WARRI/Nigeria: In a bid to foster continued development and ensure the sustenance of democratic dividends, the Executive Director of Projects at the Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Hon. Talib Tebite, has called upon the Ughelli Descendants Union (UDU) to rally behind the administration of Rt. Hon. Sherriff Oborevwori.
The Executive Director made this call during a courtesy visit by delegates of the Ughelli Descendants Union to his office at the DESOPADEC headquarters in Warri, emphasising the importance of ongoing support for the government.
“It is imperative that we stand united in our support for the government led by Rt. Hon. Sherriff Oborevwori to ensure the continued delivery of democracy’s dividends.”
Expressing his gratitude for the visit, Olorogun Tebite conveyed his appreciation to the delegation, stating, “I feel honored and filled with so much joy for your visit. I am humbled by the show of love from my Ughelli people.” Highlighting his personal connection to the region, he added, “My parents own property in Ughelli, and I also own properties in Ughelli; I can say Ughelli has done me well.”
In acknowledgment of recent political victories, Tebite credited the Governor of Delta State, emphasizing the role of prayers from various communities. He stated, “It is by your prayers and that of all Urhobo kingdoms and other local governments in Delta State, the Governor is here today, and he is the reason I am also here; therefore, I want to thank you all and also the Governor of Delta State.”
Furthermore, he urged continued support for the government and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as vehicles for progress and development in the region.
Earlier in the meeting, the President-General of the Ughelli Descendants Union, Chief Samuel Akpimegi, congratulated Chief Tebite on his appointment as the Executive Director of Projects at DESOPDEC. Chief Akpimegi also seized the opportunity to appeal to DESOPADEC management for assistance in addressing security concerns in Ughelli and facilitating transportation for the union.
