ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Executive Council, chaired by Governor Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, stands out as a uniquely robust assembly, blending seasoned technocrats with the energetic dynamism of youth, all working towards shaping tomorrow’s leaders. This assertion was made by Barrister Latimore Oghenesivbe, the Executive Assistant on Communications to the Delta State Governor and Head of the State Orientation Bureau, in a statement released on Sunday.
Oghenesivbe emphasized Governor Oborevwori’s commitment to grooming the younger generation for future leadership roles, echoing the governor’s dedication to ensuring that youths are well represented and prepared for governance. He highlighted the presence of accomplished technocrats within the council, tasked with mentoring the younger members to become effective leaders.
The statement comes in response to former governor of the state, Chief James Ibori’s public criticism of the composition of the state cabinet. Oghenesivbe pointed out that Governor Oborevwori had promised adequate youth representation during his 2023 election campaigns, drawing a parallel with the federal level where the cabinet comprises a mix of seasoned leaders and the younger generation.
He reiterated Governor Oborevwori’s commitment to youth-friendly governance, pledging to continue grooming and collaborating with focused and intelligent youths in line with his MORE Agenda’s core objectives.
Regarding Chief Ibori’s call for consultations and assistance, Oghenesivbe thanked the former governor for his willingness to collaborate but urged him not to wait to be called upon. He emphasized that Chief Ibori, as a major stakeholder, has unrestricted access to the governor and all cabinet members.
In conclusion, Oghenesivbe appealed to Chief Ibori to refrain from public criticism, suggesting that advice and assistance should be communicated through official channels. He called on all well-meaning Deltans to support Governor Oborevwori’s administration, highlighting the governor’s commitment to delivering on his campaign promises and advancing the state’s development across all sectors and senatorial districts.
