ASABA/Nigeria: The State Commissioner for Primary Education, Chief Sunday Onoriode stated this while monitoring the ongoing First Term Examinations in Public Primary Schools in some parts of the state.
Chief Onoriode, who stated that the improvement of the sector would have multiplier effects on the overall development of any society, urged teachers to redouble their commitments to duty.
He expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the examination, stressing that he was in the schools to ascertain whether the examination was conducted as scheduled.
Schools visited by the Commissioner included Uzoigwe Primary School, Asaba, Mgbala Model Primary School, and Umegbali Primary School both in Okpanam in Oshimili South and North Local Government Areas.
Meanwhile the State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu has also monitored the First Term Examinations in Public Secondary Schools with a call on stakeholders in the education system to brace up for the improvement of its standard.
Mrs. Ezewu, who said that the call had become necessary, noted that there was a need for the stakeholders to contribute their quotas towards the upliftment of the sector.
While saying that the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education would always ensure that schools especially public schools adhered strictly to the curriculum, she expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the examination.
She advised students to embrace the reading culture, adding that through their commitments to their studies, they would be successful in life even as she assured of the timely conduct of examinations in the state.
